After 5 weeks of work experience at Velos I am slowly starting to understand what I’ll be work with and how. I learn new things everyday and it is all very rewarding. We’re starting up a new development project sue which means a lot of documentation and planning both important things to know for the future. However, I don’t yet feel like I am a real asset to the company but hopefully those days will come too.
So I work during the weeks obviously. If I have the energy I try to do things after work. I found a very nice Yoga studio in Fremont so I will most likely go there once a week. I also spent a decent amount of time at the California DMV these past weeks. DMV stands for Department of Motor Vehicles which is where you go to apply for a drivers sue license. After passing a written test, me and Michel got appointments for the driving tests. We spent half a day at the DMV but we both walked sue out with approved applications, so it was definitely worth it. So my record for driving tests is pretty good by now: 2 years, two tests, two passed tests:) Did I mentioned we bought a car? Michel and I share a Toyota Corolla from 1994. It’s a cute little car and already like an old friend.
There is so much to do in this area that there is never a problem to come up with ideas about how to spend the weekends. Last weekend I went canoeing in Russian River (wine country, north of SF) with some friends. Tony and Emma, two friends from Chalmers, were here to see San Francisco after a long road trip around the country so they could tag along on this one! We had a great day with sun and many swims along the way. I’ll post some pics.
Another thing I shouldn’t forget to tell you is that we’ve celebrated the 4th of July: Independence day. I ended up going to Alcatraz with a new aquintance I met some weeks ago. This guy, Frank, works on the ferry to Alcatraz and that was how I could get a ticket, I was really lucky! The trip was fun and interesting and we got a perfect view of the fireworks over San Francisco. Thanks Frank!
But the Best weekend so far is definitely when I went to Seattle to visit my boyfriend, Rickard. All the Seattleites assured us that the weather was better than it been in months and the city and the surrounding waters were full of life. We strolled around the city, gasped at the scenic view from the Space Needle and enjoyed a fantastic dinner in Capitol sue Hill. It couldn’t have been better. In the picture sue with the Seattle skyline, note that the big building in the foreground is Rickard’s apartment complex! not bad right?
